Method
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- To get started, let’s bring together the ingredients for our bread.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine lukewarm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about five minutes until it’s frothy. This step ensures the yeast is activated.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Once the yeast mixture is ready, add it to the flour mixture along with the melted butter and warm milk. Mix until it forms a dough.
Step 2: Knead the Dough
- Now that you’ve got your dough mixed, it’s time for some good ol’ kneading.
- Transfer your dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough for about 8 to 10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
- Form the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm area for about an hour or until it doubles in size.
Step 3: Shape the Bread
- With the dough risen, it’s time to shape it.
- Punch down the dough to remove excess air. Turn it out onto a floured surface and shape it into a loaf.
- Place it in a greased loaf pan. Cover it again and allow it to rise for another 30 minutes.
Step 4: Bake the Bread
- Now we bake!
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the loaf for about 30-35 minutes, or until it’s golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom. The tantalizing aroma will fill your kitchen.
Step 5: Make the Filling
- While the bread cools, let’s prepare the peanut butter filling.
- In a bowl, combine the roasted peanuts, salt, vanilla, and honey. Stir until well-mixed. This step is essential as we want all the flavors to come together.
Step 6: Assemble the Sandwich
- Now comes the fun part—assembling your perfect PB&J.
- Once the bread has completely cooled, cut it into slices. Spread a generous amount of peanut butter on one slice.
- Top it with your homemade strawberry preserves, covering it generously.
- Place another slice of bread on top to complete the sandwich.
Notes
- Use Fresh Ingredients: Start with the freshest ingredients for the best taste.
- Adjust Consistency: If your peanut butter is too thick, a little bit of vegetable oil can help achieve the right spreadable texture.
- Bread Variation: For a unique twist, try using whole grain or rye bread.
- Age the Jelly: Let your homemade jelly sit for a day before using it; the flavors will meld beautifully.
- Proper Storage: If you have leftovers, store them separated by parchment paper to maintain freshness.
